4 weeks into practice, the day has arrived, opening day and the boys first scrimmage. I forgot to take pics of Jack before he lined up but I did get some of his bro with his sweet Cowboys shirt I made him... I think hes his brothers #1 fan! We got to the field at 715am to line up with the team. By 8am the Cowboys President was announcing each cowboys team, smallest (us) to tallest.
The ceremony was an hour long but our team had the first scrimmage so they had to sneak off to a corner of the field and begin warming up before it was over. You people would be amazed at these 5-7 year olds. Robert says jump they say how high, everything is answered with a "yes sir". Its like boot camp. Watching these kids listen and be so attentive is amazing to me. Its awesome. They have an exact line up even to do their stretches and warm up, the kids know exactly where to go everytime. Its crazy. Our game started at 9am, believe it or not it was raining!! Ya weird, mid August and its raining. Kids didnt care though, they went on to play their game. Lemme tell you, it was the cutest darn thing EVER! They played Whittier and creamed them 70-0. Jack did great, even though he was up against kids that were literally twice his size. Some of the kids he was blocking looked like they were 12! But he hung in there! I was really impressed with him, hes still young and small so for him to do that well and be so into it was really cool. He loved it. He said he had a great time, even when he got knocked down by that huge kid! They got snacks after the game and lemme tell you, this isnt no oranges and capri sun crap... Our team mom is rad. She packs these cute little plastic bags full of stuff... strawberries, pirates booty, oreos, giant box of Mike and Ikes and Powerade and tied it with a football ribbon. WHAT?!?! Why didnt I get this stuff when i was playing sports?!?! We hung out for awhile and had lunch and watched Ryders game, which was right after ours. It made Jack really excited for when he finally gets to play tackle. We went home and relaxed for awhile, then Luke was off to do security for the older kids games. Ahhh the joys of having to volunteer. Me and the kids hung out and did nothing and it was NICE!
